Ecateatro APS was founded in early 2020 and became a legally established association in autumn 2021.
The association was created by two young artists, Marzia Pellegrini and Riccardo Trovato, and is made up of professional actors who graduated from the Teatro Arsenale School in Milan, founded in 1978 by Marina Spreafico and Kuniaki Ida, direct students of Jacques Lecoq.
The company draws inspiration from Lecoq’s principles, values, style and artistic vision. One of the most influential figures in contemporary theatre, Lecoq is renowned for his work on physical theatre and for reviving the use of masks, the Greek chorus and the traditions of Commedia dell’Arte.
On 7 September 2024, Ecateatro received the “GIUSEPPINA E BENEDETTO RAVASIO AWARD – 27th EDITION” from Fondazione Ravasio in Bergamo, with the following citation: “Ecateatro, a young theatre company made up of professional actors who graduated from the Teatro Arsenale School in Milan, is dedicated to puppetry, working with hybrid puppets and creating valuable and necessary productions distinguished by exceptionally refined staging”.
Ecateatro was selected as one of the 20 theatre companies from across Italy to take part in the 2023 edition of FAI IL TUO TEATRO!
